Expert Review

When searching for an extended warranty for your vehicle, there are many different companies and plans to choose from. You can choose between a dealership warranty or a third-party policy provider to give you a variety of coverage levels to suit your needs.

While dealership warranties offer great protection, you don’t get the amenities and diversity of coverages found with third-party companies such as Route 66. Route 66 is a third-party extended warranty provider that has been around for quite some time—over 33 years and counting.

Today, we are going to look at what a Route 66 extended warranty covers, what it costs, and real-world reviews from Route 66 customers.

OVERALL IMPRESSION

What Is A Route 66 Extended Warranty?
An extended warranty is coverage that you can get for your vehicle once your factory warranty has expired. Extended warranties, often referred to as a vehicle service contract, come in a variety of different coverage plans and prices, so finding one that fits your exact needs will benefit you the most. An extended warranty can be purchased from the dealership you are buying your car from or through a third party policy provider, like Route 66.

What Does The Route 66 Warranty Cover?

Depending on your vehicle and how much protection you want, the coverage you go with can vary depending on your budget and needs. Are you looking for exclusionary coverage for total protection or searching for more affordable options that covers essential components? Whatever your answer is will determine what is (and isn’t) covered under your extended warranty.

Route 66 offers three levels of coverage to choose from, each of them including roadside assistance and rental car reimbursement:

First Street

First Street warranty covers all your essential powertrain components such as the engine, transmission, drive axle assembly, and 50% of your cooling and electrical system. This level of coverage is ideal for those looking for a budget-friendly option that ensures you’re protected against costly breakdowns.

Main Street

The Main Street coverage plan includes the same perks of the First Street warranty but also covers the other 50% of your cooling and electrical system. Your vehicle’s A/C system, steering, brakes, and front suspension components are also protected which normally require thousands out-of-pocket to repair.

Easy Street

Easy Street offers total protection, which is ideal for you if you’re looking for bumper-to-bumper breakdown protection. Just about every part on your vehicle that is not listed in your contract is covered. The only exclusions are the ones in your contract, so we suggest taking a look at a sample contract to ensure you’re getting the right plan for you.

How Much Does A Route 66 Extended Warranty Cost?

Route 66 offers affordable coverage, but the overall price depends on which coverage level you opt for. The cost of an extended warranty is typically between $1,000 to $2,500 but they often come with everyday driving perks and special offers.

All of their plans come with a $0 deductible which means the only cost you’ll be required to pay is for parts that are not covered by your contract. It’s important to note that a zero deductible plan usually means that the overall policy cost is higher, so take into consideration if this is something you’re looking for.

How Do I Get A Route 66 Warranty?

Getting a Route 66 warranty can be done by submitting a contact form on the Route 66 website, or simply giving them a call.

Route 66’s warranty experts are happy to assist you in finding the best warranty for your needs. This allows you to make sure you are not overspending for coverage you may not need. After submitting your contact form, a member of Route 66’s experience warranty staff will contact you regarding your extended warranty needs.

Where Can I Take My Vehicle For Repairs With A Route 66 Extended Warranty?

When it comes to using your warranty to have your car repaired, some extended warranties may limit where you can take your vehicle to have warranty work performed. With manufacturer warranties, you’re oftentimes required to visit certain locations in order to get serviced. If you do not live near a dealership, you may be paying more for towing your car longer distances.

With a Route 66 extended warranty, you can take your vehicle to an ASE-certified repair facility. All the mechanic needs to do is call the Route 66 claims department to be paid directed by Route 66. You can also fill out an online claim form if you prefer.
